The date for the 2016 race is Sunday 21st February 2016. Race entry will open on-line on Saturday 3rd October 2015 at 10:30am. In 2016 we will celebrate the 25th running of the race and we have plans in place to mark the occasion..

The popular and well established race is a fairly flat, fast 10 miler, ideal as part of London Marathon training or as an early target for your season. As its name suggests, the course has a winding stretch that snakes its way through beautiful East Yorkshire countryside at the foot of the glorious Wolds.

the route
The course starts on Garths End in Pocklington and heads north through the villages of Meltonby, Bishop Wilton, Bolton and Yapham Mill. Returning to Pockington to finish in the Market Place.

Your race number, timing tag and final race details will be posted to you approximately two weeks before race day.

The 2016 race offers an extensive cash prize list;
First male and female - 250 plus a further 250 if the course record is broken
(Course records: Male 48.03 (Ricky Stephenson - 2011), Female 55.56 (Debbie Mason - 2006))
Second to Fifth male and female - 70/60/50/40
First three vet male and female (all age categories) - 30/20/10
First three club teams (three to count) - 45/30/15
Numerous exciting spot prizes too!!!

All finishers shall receive a 25th anniversary commemorative hand-thrown mug and, back by popular demand, a chocolate bar..

Race entries can be transferred on-line at no cost - a link will be available here to make transfers when the race entry opens in October 2015.

Entry Waiting List
The race does not have a waiting or reserve list. If you have a friend or club colleague who wishes to transfer their number to you please use the on-line transfer facility at the link above.

Race entries cannot be deferred under any circumstance. Please do not make requests for entry deferment as these will be politely refused.

If the race does have to be cancelled or delayed for any reason we regret that refunds cannot be made. Race Souvenirs (a commemorative mug) will however be available in exchange for your race number, these must be collected in person as they cannot be posted.
We also regret that refund of entry fee due to withdrawal/injury/illness in advance of race day can not be made. However, you may use the transfer facility to pass your number on to a club colleague or friend - refer to the guidance on transfers above.

Toilet Facilities
The Race HQ is equipped with extensive toilet facilities which are supplemented with portable toilets. For the 2015 race limited toilet facilities will also be provided in the start area. Competitors are asked to ensure their preparation immediately before the race includes adequate time to use the toilet facilities at the race HQ and if necessary the start area. Competitors MUST NOT relieve themselves anywhere except in the toilet facilities provided. The start is located in a residential area and therefore any competitors seen urinating in any public or private place will be disqualified from the race with immediate effect and furthermore barred from entry to any future editions of this race. Please show respect to the town and its residents and uphold the good reputation the event enjoys. No excuses - no further warnings!!!

Personal Music Devices
Please be aware that the use of in-ear personal music devices are not permitted at this event, The race is held on roads open to traffic and you need to be fully aware of traffic and be able to react to the advice offered to you by the race marshals. So please do not compete in the race wearing these devices - if you do your number will be recorded and you will be disqualified from the event.

By making your entry to this race you declare that you will take part in the event entirely at your own risk, that you have no medical disabilities or conditions that may endanger you or other participants, and that you remain personally responsible for your property at the race venue. As a race entrant you confirm you are over 17 years of age.

Race Facilities
Where is Pocklington?
Pocklington is situated off the A1079 York to Hull road. Refer to the map link above. The race HQ is situated at Pocklington RUFC Rugby Club on Burnby Lane.

Where are the Car Parks, Race HQ, Toilets, Start and Finish areas?
Click here to go to the race facilities map. Most of the car parks are within a 5 minute walk of the assembly area at the race HQ and the finishing area.
Please park in the areas shown. If you choose to park on residential roads please park responsibly and with consideration for local residents and other road users.
Marshals will be on hand to help direct you so please be patient as there will be room for everyone.
How do I get to the start area?
The start of the race is approximately 5 minutes walk from the race HQ. Please DO NOT make your own way to the start as the Rugby Club is an ideal place to warm up and has adequate toilet, changing and shower facilities. Runners will be assembled at 10:45am to be escorted to the start by race marshals. Please follow the advice of the marshals at all times. Limited toilet facilities will be available at the start area. The race will start at 11:00am prompt.
What is the course like?
The course is mainly left hand turns, except in the village of Meltonby where we ask you follow the advice offered by the race marshals present at the right hand turn. Please keep to the left hand side of the road at all times unless advised otherwise by a race marshal.
The road from Bolton (at the 7.5 mile mark) to Pocklington can be very busy so please take care until you reach the finish area in Pocklington Market Place.
Is water available on the course?
Yes - water stations are situated at approximately 4.5 miles and 7.5 miles along the route. Water is also available at the finish.
If you use gels or other sports nutrition on the course please do not litter. Leave any litter, either at the water station or with a marshal or hang on to it and dispose of it responsibly yourself. Your co-operation to eliminate race generated litter would be appreciated.
Is First Aid available?
Yes - St. Johns Ambulance will be present at race HQ and the finish area. If you require assistance please advise a race marshal who will call for assistance.
How can I find out my official finishing time and result?
As the race is chip timed your finishing time will be available within minutes of you crossing the finish line.
A large screen displaying the live results will be positioned in the finishing area. Runners can see their results by entering their race number on a key pad.
All entrants that provide a valid mobile number on entry will also receive a text message shortly after finishing with full details of their result.
Full race results will also be available on line at the Sports Timing Solutions web site.
Are refreshments available?
Yes - The bar/cafe at the rugby club/race HQ will be open before and after the race where a wide selection of food and drink will be available. In addition, a number of cafes and coffee shops are situated in the town centre immediately adjacent to the finish area.
When and where are the Prizes presented?
The prize presentation will take place at approximately 1:00pm at the race HQ (Pocklington RUFC Rugby Club).

2015 Race Packs
Race day is just three weeks away and we hope your race preparation is going to plan so that on Sunday 22nd February you stand every chance of meeting your race goal whatever that may be!

Race packs will be sent out to you over the coming week (w/c 2nd February 2015).

The race pack contains 3 items as follows:
Race Number (To be worn clearly on the front and not modified in anyway)
Event Information Letter
1 x Timing Chip (These are paper thin DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY)

We have checked each and every letter and they all contain the 3 items above so please check the envelope for all 3 items and DO NOT FORGET THEM ON RACE DAY.

What if you do not receive your race pack?
We are sending the race packs to the address that you supplied. If you have not filled the address in correctly your race pack may not arrive. If you do not receive a race pack then you will have to attend the Race HQ - Information Desk (Pocklington RUFC Rugby Club) on the morning of the event and collect a new race number and timing chip. Please allow sufficient time to do this. The information desk will be open from 9:00am.

Please read the event information letter fully and please note the information provided and advice given on the race toilet facilities. Also please ensure you digest the information provided on attaching your timing chip to your running shoes.

Snake Lane 2015 is now full
The 2015 edition of Snake Lane is now full. The race filled in an unprecedented time of 24 hours. If you were successful in gaining a place we look forward to seeing you in February. If not, we are sorry we cannot accommodate any more runners but please consider entering the 2016 race.

Entries have been open for just 2 hours and almost 500 of the 1150 places have been filled. So if you would like to run the 2015 race don't delay!!!

Please ensure you enter promptly to secure your place in the 2015 race as the race limit for 2014 was reached in less than 36 hours of opening.
